| Neuschwanstein Country - Riviera of the Allgäu, the land of
high mountains and seven lakes on the Romantic Road , home to violin-makers, Ludwig II's
Extensive forests of coniferous and deciduous trees, bottle-green mountain lakes,
cultivated park-like landscapes, 2,OOO m (6,5OO foot) high peaks - even the River Lech,
the
father of the town Fuessen, reveals two faceshere: that of the mountain torrent on the
Lech Falls, where you can still "see a saint's footprint", and that of the
sluggish river shortly before entering Lake Forggensee, one of the many water sport paradises for wind-surfers, fishermen and nature lovers. The Old Town captivates us with its romantic atmosphere. The smart facades of the burghers' old houses invite us to saunter through the crooked lanes and modern stores. An "advertising plaque" from 1752, the Holy Ghost Hospital Church, a rococo gem, the picturesque spots by the Bleicher Tower bid us welcome, as do the colorful street cafes. Culture and nature, active holidays and health cures combined in delightful harmony. Whoever has been here feels it in his bones: Fuessen is fascinating.
