Virgina's book recommendation :
" Thank you, for these lovely pages on Ludwig II
and the Neuschwanstein Country! I have been studying Ludwig for about three-and-a-half
years, and although I have not yet visited his homeland, I have gathered a collection of
about 80 books and a dozen videos on him and his castles in a variety of languages. I
really appreciate your giving such excellent information on Ludwig in
your FAQ. "
For those who wish to read more in English on
Ludwig II,
I recommend the

"The
Dream King" by Wilfrid Blunt
and
"The Mad King" by Greg King
(British edition).
The former is a highly readable biography (published in
1970) that contains many photos of Ludwig and his world, including some nice color photos
of the castles. The latter book was published first in the U.S. at the end of 1996, and
gives an excellent summary of Ludwig's life. The British edition of this same title,
however, was revised to reflect new information discovered by the author in October 1996
about the true cause of Ludwig's death. Two new chapters, "The Motive" and
"The Crime," were added to the British edition, and other chapters dealing with
the end of Ludwig's life were revised. This revised edition was published in the spring of
this year by
Aurum.
